UNLIKE HER All Blacks Sevens brother Sione Molia, Ilisapeti ‘Lisa’ Molia is a blindside flanker in the 15s game.
Molia can also play lock, and her rise with the Counties Manukau Heat has been swift, having only debuted for her province in 2019. She appeared in all seven Heat games then, operating in either the No 6 jersey or at lock. Her output was good enough to win a berth in the 2019 NZ Development XV, for whom she played twice in Fiji at the Oceania championship.
In the 2020 Farah Palmer Cup, the Manurewa club player scored in each of her three games for the Heat, four in all, including a double against the Taranaki Whio.
In the Black Ferns trial, she created and scored a fine try, which helped her win selection for the first time to the Black Ferns squad. Still in her teens, Molia has huge potential.
