Blues: Predicted line-up for round one

We’re excited to see prop Karl Tu’inukuafe fightback this year after a horror 2019. The 13-Test All Black missed a chunk of the Super Rugby season after picking up a viral meningitis. He’s fired up and ready to get back into action for the Blues. Expect to see Tu’inukuafe make the most of his opportunity and he’ll link up nicely again with Ofa Tuungafasi. Apart from rookie hooker Kurt Eklund and loose forward Waimana Riedlinger-Kapa, the Blues have maintained a consistent forward pack this season and they’ll be led at the back of the scrum by Akira Ioane. ‘Big Red’ Tom Robinson returns after missing the Mitre 10 Cup season through injury.

There are a few more changes to the Blues backline, with England’s Joe Marchant set to link up in the midfield with Reiko Ioane. Otere Black will be desperate to make the most of his chance at pivot before Beauden Barrett returns to the fold in a couple of months. Emoni Narawa was the talk of the Mitre 10 Cup for Bay of Plenty and we can’t wait to see how he’ll spark up the Blues backline in his debut season.
