Robinson said that New Zealand Rugby had been approached about a concept that would see a national selection take on the current Rugby League World Cup champions Australia in a 14-man union-league hybrid game.

"We've had an approach," Robinson confirmed earlier today.

"We'll work that through and go through the proper process... if we feel it has merit to take further.

"It's one of the many different options ... we are considering," Robinson said.

While the fate of the cross-code clash may not be known for some time yet, Robinson confirmed that All Blacks would feature in the Mitre 10 Cup, kicking off on 11 September.

"We were committed to having the All Blacks involved with Mitre 10 Cup for as long as possible, at this stage we're hoping that we can have three weeks available for the provinces for the All Blacks to be playing in that competition," Robinson said.

The draw for the Mitre 10 Cup was released today and can be viewed HERE.
