Grassroots rugby is at the heart of every community in New Zealand. Whether it’s spending weeknights training or Saturday mornings cheering from the sidelines, Kiwis come together for the love of the game.

We’re excited to see Bunnings support the game by improving the clubs that serve our communities. That’s where Bunnings Rugby Assist comes in. In partnership with New Zealand Rugby, Bunnings Warehouse has created the Bunnings Rugby Assist programme to support community rugby across the country.

In 2021, a third of all rugby clubs applied to Bunnings Rugby Assist by sharing upgrade plans for their club facilities. Twenty community rugby clubs received a share of $300,000 worth of Bunnings products and materials to improve their facilities, along with hands on support from their local Bunnings team, to help bring their renovations to life.

We now close out the first season of Bunnings Rugby Assist, with incredible stories from Onerahi up north, to Alhambra Union down south and others in between. Check out the stories here.

With season two on the horizon, Bunnings Rugby Assist shifts focus to supporting the development of women’s rugby.  Whether your club could use a separate changing room, switching out some urinals for toilets, or perhaps an extension to the clubroom, we’ll soon be opening entries for all clubs to nominate their upgrade plans.

So be sure to add a new agenda item to your next committee meeting:
