1: David Boon
The tough Tasmanian would be immovable at scrum time and win any inter-team facial hair competitions.
2: Arjuna Ranatunga
Did you know rugby is Sri Lanka’s second biggest sport? Well it is and apparently Arjuna Ranatunga was a gun hooker back in the day.
3: Dwayne Leverock
Famous for his one-handed catch at the 2003 World Cup, the 130kg Bermudian would surely make just as big a splash on the rugby field.
If anyone wants to argue with this selection then take it up with Sir Curtly himself. We dare you.
5: Tim Southee
Apologies to ‘Two Metre’ Peter Fulton but former Kings College blindside flanker Tim Southee gets the nod in the five jersey. At 6’4, Southee has the height for lock and will bring plenty of cheeky chat at set piece time.
6: Chris Gayle
Stand and deliver. Huge hitter. He’d be an absolute pest at the rucks. Turning the ball over left, right and centre.
7: MS Dhoni
The Richie McCaw of Cricket. Enough said.
8: Andrew Symonds
No lip sunscreen required in rugby. We saw what he was capable of when he smashed a streaker at the Gabba in 2008.
9: Jonty Rhodes
Acrobatic around the rucks. A very special pair of mitts. His father was a former halfback.
10: Brendon McCullum
Played first five-eighth in the King’s High School First XV. He was picked ahead of Dan Carter in the South Island Secondary Schools team in 2000.
Malinga the winger. He’d be menacing on the left flank. Using that distinctive round-arm action to fend off defenders.
12: Kevin Pietersen
Hinted he played halfback for his College side in South Africa in an Instagram throwback. But we see him as a second five who would love to rark up his opposite.
13: Ian Botham
Mr Reliable. Widely regarded as one of the world’s best all-rounders in history. Very much in the mould of Conrad Smith. Great on both defence and attack.
14: Shoaib Ahktar
Serious pace and bounce. Became the first player to break the 100-mile mark, bowling a 161.3kmph delivery in 2003. Will be just as rapid when diving for tries in the corner.
15: Jeff Wilson
60-Test All Black, 17 of which were at fullback. How could he not make the team!
