With trans-Tasman travel back on the cards, both teams will play six matches against their Australian counterparts in what will prove to be critical international competition as the Olympics loom.

The teams will play at Grammar TEC’s Orakei Domain on Friday and Sunday, while Saturday’s matches will be part of a blockbusting Trans-Tasman rugby festival at Eden Park alongside the Blues v Waratahs Super Rugby match. (Get your tickets HERE)

All matches will be broadcast live on Sky Sport NZ in New Zealand and Stan Sport in Australia.

Both All Blacks Sevens and Black Ferns Sevens were in stellar form in the World Series in 2020 before Covid-19 saw a halt in international rugby and the Series brought to a premature end. Having led the Series to that point, both teams were crowned World Series champions.

Players have been forced to turn their efforts closer to home, with several returning to their roots and playing club and provincial rugby in 2020.

Sevens returned in December with a super-charged Red Bull Ignite7 in Tauranga where new stars emerged including Moses Leo, Brady Rush and Jorja Miller.

In 2021 teams have played two tournaments, a hit out in Tauranga in February before Takiwhitu Tuturu in April.
