Wattbike announces new partnership with All Blacks and Black Ferns

The deal sees Wattbike become the ‘Official Performance Bike Supplier’ of the All Blacks and Black Ferns, cementing a decade-long relationship that has placed Wattbikes at the centre of the All Blacks strength and conditioning programme.

Since the pandemic struck, the world has woken up to the benefits of indoor cycling, even for those who do not consider themselves cyclists. Wattbike will use this universal appeal, interest and the intensity of the All Blacks and Black Ferns to showcase the benefits of power-based bike training.

The announcement coincides with the launch of Wattbike’s latest campaign ‘Made For Real Athletes’, which aims to show how anyone with a body and a determined mindset can achieve their fitness goals. The All Blacks will be playing a role in the campaign, demonstrating how Wattbikes are used authentically within elite sport performance.

As part of the agreement, the All Blacks and Black Ferns will be supplied with Wattbikes wherever they’re training and playing around the world, including on their upcoming Northern Tours which kicks off for the All Blacks in the USA when they take on the US national team in Washington on October 23.

The partnership includes collaborations between both teams and Wattbike, such as workouts, product and testing, and matchups between Wattbike consumers and the All Blacks.

Rich Baker, CEO of Wattbike, commented: “This announcement has been a long time in the making and cements what has been a very successful off-field partnership going back to when Wattbike was founded.

“New Zealand Rugby were quick to realise the benefits of off-feet conditioning and they’ve clearly put it to good use over the years. We’re signing this deal to take the message to anyone with a fitness goal - regardless of their sport or ambitions - that the Wattbike works for all shapes, all sizes and all comers just as hard as it does for the All Blacks and Black Ferns.”

The All Blacks Strength and Conditioning Coach, Dr Nic Gill added: “For over ten years the All Blacks have worked with Wattbike to help get the team into the best possible shape to compete on the field. The Wattbike is a highly accurate, realistic and reliable way to get intensity into our indoor and off-feet conditioning programmes. There is no doubt that the Wattbike is a world-class high-performance training tool and we’re delighted to have them officially in our camp.”

This is the first official partnership for Wattbike. The Nottingham-based brand has built a reputation for being the product of choice for elite athletes and teams such as England Football, Team GB, British Cycling, Porsche and Red Bull.
