Who is the All Blacks greatest sidestepper?

Sidesteppers

The post which asked, “who is the first player you think of when you hear the word ‘sidestep’?”, has attracted more than 2,000 comments from fans eager to give their opinion on who has the slipperiest feet in the game.

Many current and former All Blacks were mentioned by fans with Nehe Milner-Skudder, John Kirwan, Joe Rokocoko, Christian Cullen, Israel Dagg and Ben Smith among the names to regularly appear.

Sevens players are renowned for their fleet-footed ability and did not miss out on the conversation with Fiji’s William Ryder and Waisale Serevi receiving plenty of love from fans alongside South Africa’s Cheslin Kolbe and former All Blacks Sevens playmaker Orene Ai’i and Black Ferns Sevens star Portia Woodman.

There were also plenty of former international stars in the mix with Quade Cooper, Jason Robinson and Shane Williams being mentioned regularly in the debate.

While many of the names were from the professional era of rugby, there was also plenty of support for the old school with Welsh trio Phil Bennett, Barry John and Gerald Davies gaining support alongside former All Blacks flyer Bryan Williams and Wallabies speedster David Campese.

The debate wasn’t restricted to rugby union though with New Zealand-born NRL stars Benji Marshall, Shaun Johnson and Roger Tuivasa-Scheck getting respect for their jinking ability.

Not all responses were serious of nature with former England captain Will Carling roasting All Blacks great Sean Fitzpatrick with the zinger below.
