BIOGRAPHY
THE IMPRESSIVE Sonny Bill Williams has achieved amazing things in his sporting career: he has been a dual international and national and international champion across different sports including rugby, rugby league and boxing.
Now one of the senior members of the All Blacks, Williams first signed with New Zealand Rugby in 2010 after plying his trade in French rugby, and earned his first All Blacks cap later that year. A double RWC winner in 2011 and 2015, he played his 50th Test in the third Bledisloe Cup game in Yokohama last year.
In 2016, Williams joined the All Blacks Sevens team and went to Rio for the Olympics. Injury cut his tournament short and prevented him from appearing again for the All Blacks that year.
Williams has previously played Investec Super Rugby with the Crusaders and Chiefs and joined the Blues in 2017 where he is a leader in the team.
Williams played in Australia’s National Rugby League from 2002-08 and again in 2013-14.
Away from rugby, his family-focussed social media posts are hugely popular with fans and he is also heavily involved in charity work.
