BIOGRAPHY
JOE MOODY has been a solid and steadfast presence in the All Blacks front row since his debut in 2014.
First selected for the All Blacks in 2013, an injury while helping Canterbury to its provincial title saw him miss the tour. He got his chance in 2014 when called in – ironically – as an injury replacement, and again in 2015, when an injury to veteran Tony Woodcock saw him called into the squad for the second half of the 2015 Rugby World Cup. He ended up playing in all three Finals matches.
Moody has represented New Zealand in age-grade rugby league and wrestling, earning New Zealand and Oceania championships. He won a wrestling bronze medal at the Junior Commonwealth Games.
He made his Māori All Blacks debut in 2015 against Fiji and played against the New Zealand Barbarians at Eden Park.
Moody was a key part of the Crusaders side which took out the inaugural Super Rugby Aotearoa title in 2020 and was rewarded with selection in the All Blacks squad to play in the Bledisloe Cup against Australia.
