Tips and tricks to learn the Poi
- Level 1: Swing your poi with your dominant hand, and catch it in front of you with the other hand. Aim to catch it between your thumb and first finger, where the taura (chord) meets the pōro (ball) for better control.
- Level 2: Swing your poi to hit under your hand, then back over to hit the top of your hand, quickly, to make the sound of a heartbeat. Swing once more to make a full loop and repeat.
- Level 3: Practice, practice, practice levels 1 and 2, and add in your spins.
