All Blacks trio take aim at Open champion Ryan Fox
This year’s event is the fifth edition of the fan-favourite day out, and it comes with extra star power. Fox returns to his home course as the 2026 Open Champion after birdieing the final hole at Royal Birkdale in July to claim his first major title.
Chasing the Fox mixes elite golf with a festival atmosphere, using a made-for-television six-hole format that pits teams of well-known sports stars and personalities against Fox. Fans get to walk the fairways right alongside the players, with live music, entertainment and plenty of hospitality on offer.
There is a strong rugby thread running through the event. Fox’s father is All Blacks great Grant Fox, and Ryan himself had the honour of carrying the New Zealand flag onto the field as the All Blacks’ flag bearer for the fourth Test of Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry against the Springboks at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore on 12 September 2026. The All Blacks have also been part of the Chasing the Fox field since the very first event in 2022, when Beauden and Jordie lined up for the rugby team. Lienert-Brown is no stranger to the course either, having played in 2023. The All Blacks won’t have the rugby bragging rights to themselves, with a Team Wallabies featuring former Wallabies Drew Mitchell and Lote Tuqiri, alongside current playmaker Carter Gordon, also lining up to chase the Fox. Meanwhile, All Blacks centurion Kieran Read will take part in the Legends team alongside two-time Olympic champion rower Eric Murray and Tall Blacks great Tom Abercrombie.
Can the boys chase down the Open champion? Find out on 11 December.
