The Black Ferns and All Blacks Sevens have named extended squads to play a series of international fixtures at the Ignite7 event in Tauranga on 1-2 November against Australia, Fiji and Japan.
Black Ferns Rugby World Cup stars Braxton Sorensen-McGee and Logo-I-Pulotu Lemapu-Atai’i Sylvia Brunt are new faces in the women’s extended 15-strong squad, while Southland and Highlanders flyer Michael Manson is among an 18-strong men’s squad.
The matches in Tauranga will not be capped internationals but will serve as valuable preparation for the World SVNS Series which kicks off in Dubai on 29 November. The Black Ferns and All Blacks Sevens squads for the series will be announced in coming weeks.
As well as the international fixtures, the 2025 Ignite7 tournament will include 48 female and 48 male athletes on display at the two-day tournament at Blake Park with new to rugby talent mixed in with emerging provincial union talent from across the country.
