Former Crusaders flanker Tom Christie scored a vital try to help Newcastle to its first win of the season when beating Lyon 23-14 in European Challenge Cup rugby at the weekend.
Christie crossed the line 10 minutes from the end to reclaim the lead before another late try to wing Oli Spencer sealed the win.
Moments earlier, Christie was denied a try when the TMO ruled he had been held up over the line.
Meanwhile, All Black Rieko Ioane had time on the field with Leinster, coming on as a second-half substitute and helping them to a 45-28 win over Harlequins.
Captain Caelan Doris told the media after the game, "He's been great so far, he's fitted in pretty quickly.
"Obviously, it's tricky coming in and learning a new language, in terms of all the play-calling, but he's done a good job.
"He's one of us already."
As former Chiefs coach Clayton McMillan's side slumped to a 14-40 loss against Bath, having lost the weekend before, skipper Tadhg Beirne said he would shoulder the blame for his side's poor lineout performance in the loss.
The British & Irish Lion was also sent to the sin bin during a first quarter that saw Bath claim a 28-0 lead, including two converted tries while he was off the field.
"It's probably on my shoulders those first 20 minutes unfortunately. I'll have to get over that and move on for next week, but I thought the fight from that point when I came back on was probably more like the Munster we know."
McMillan said, "We feel like we're a better team than what we showed, especially in the first 15-20 minutes. Against a good quality side, you give them that sort of margin, it's always going to be tough to come back."
And there was no joy for former All Blacks assistant coach John Plumtree in his last game as the Stormers' director of rugby. The South Africans were on the end of a 19-56 pummelling by Toulouse.
That was on the back of their United Rugby Championship start with only one win in six games. Toulouse posted their four-try bonus points within 23 minutes of the start.
Plumtree is to remain involved in the Stormers coaching system. JP Pietersen, the assistant coach, will take over as head coach.
