After beating the Blues last weekend, a first-time place in the playoffs beckons as the main prize while they have a chance to complete a grand slam of wins over New Zealand teams.
Avoiding a repeat of the daunting first half they conceded in their first game against the Chiefs will be a prime goal for the games.
Starting well has been an issue across the season.
"We've conceded points early in games, and then we've been playing the chase game. We're good at it. Tana [Umaga] has challenged us to start well and put teams under pressure.
"The Chiefs will have been talking about that game as well around finishing strong. It's going to be massive for us to start well."
Savea said backing up their win over the Blues would require Moana Pasifika to handle their game and be clinical because they know the Chiefs' quality.
"Defensively, it's going to be a big, big one for us. They pose threats across the park in their pack, and their backs are really smart.
"We've got to turn up in all areas of our game and do that for 80 minutes."
He wasn't thinking about the playoffs yet and added that every game is a playoff as far as he is concerned.
"That's what drives me and a lot of the boys. Our backs have been against the wall since the get-go. We understand why we're playing. That drives us in the week, and we do not want to fail and let our brothers down.
"From where we were to where we are now, we understand what works for us. We understand where we want to play the game and how simple our game is.
"If you get me or too many of these boys thinking too much, it's not good."
A key game feature will be a prospective clash in the loose forwards with Chiefs and All Blacks star Wallace Sititi.
"We're good mates off the field but once we cross the white line the game is on."
The Chiefs team had set the bar this season and were consistent performers.
"There's no wonder they are one of the top teams; even in earlier years, they have been a team at the top.
"It's going to be a mammoth challenge for us, but an exciting one, going down to Hamilton when the odds are against you. But that's why we play."
Games might be challenging, but they could be rewarding as well. Players understand the purpose and believe in it.
"We're just trying to go to places we've never been before as a franchise and as a team. We're striving to continue to do that. We don't have all the answers, we're just giving it our best and let it take us where we want to go."
