BIOGRAPHY
Aumua was born on 5 May 1997, in Lower Hutt, Wellington, growing up in Naenae.
He attended St. Patrick's College, Silverstream where he spent three years in the school's first XV. He earned higher honours with selection in the New Zealand Secondary Schools squad for their 2015 tour. Aumua made his debut for the Wellington Lions in 2016, becoming a regular starter in 2017. He had an outstanding campaign that year, subsequently being signed by the Hurricanes for the 2018 season. Aumua played for the New Zealand under-20's side in 2016 and 2017, scoring 7 tries for the team over those two seasons. Following his 2017 provincial campaign, Aumua was surprisingly called up to the All Blacks for the 2017 end of year tour despite the fact that he had not even made his Super Rugby debut.
He played two games on the 2017 All Blacks End of Year tour against France XV and the Barbarians but had to wait until 2020 to make his Test debut against Australia in Brisbane. Aumua played five Tests in 2021 but had to wait until 2024 to add to that tally when he was selected in Scott Robertson's first squad to take on England in a two-Test series.
