BIOGRAPHY
The Taranaki playmaker played a dozen tournaments between 2015 and 2017, including the 2016 Rio Olympics.
As a former basketballer, his height and speed has made him invaluable in contesting the ball in the air and on attack.
Ormond thought his time in a black jersey was over, but due to several injuries his services were required in 2022. He returned to the World Sevens Series scene at the Los Angeles tournament, which the All Blacks Sevens won.
He was given a lifeline by coach Clark Laidlaw, after asking him if he could come back in and train with the side.
Ormond was named in the All Blacks Sevens squad for the 2022 Rugby Sevens World Cup in Cape Town.
