BIOGRAPHY

MARCEL RENATA was a late addition to the Māori All Blacks squad in 2015, called up to face the New Zealand Barbarians at Eden Park and the Ngāti Whānaunga/Ngāi Takoto prop joined the fray from the bench. He was then selected by then Head Coach Colin Cooper for the 2016 Northern Tour, on which he played in all three matches.

In 2017 Renata was selected for the New Zealand Provincial Barbarians side to face the British and Irish Lions. He went on to be called into the 2018 Hurricanes squad, making two appearances before heading home to Auckland and joining the Blues for their 2019 season and debuting against the Sunwolves.

The young, gifted prop plays provincial rugby for Auckland and is usually found in the thick of things during the Mitre 10 Cup. Renata has also been involved with coaching the game for the University club, where he has been a player since 2012.
