Will Jordan is within touching distance of All Blacks history after scoring twice in the 34-32 Nations Championship victory over France in Christchurch.

Will Jordan moves within two tries of Doug Howlett’s All Blacks Test record

Jordan crossed in each half at One New Zealand Stadium, with his second try in the 70th minute proving crucial as the All Blacks held off a late French comeback. The double lifted the 28-year-old to 47 Test tries, moving him outright into second place on New Zealand’s all-time list.

Jordan has now moved past the celebrated trio of Christian Cullen, Joe Rokocoko and Julian Savea, who each scored 46 Test tries, and sits just two behind Doug Howlett’s long-standing All Blacks record of 49.

Howlett set the benchmark across 62 Tests between 2000 and 2007, but Jordan’s remarkable finishing ability has put the record firmly within reach. His brace against France was another reminder of his instinct for appearing in the right place at the right time, with his combination of speed, support play and anticipation continuing to make him one of the most dangerous finishers in international rugby.

With the 2026 Test season only just underway, Jordan now needs two tries to equal Howlett and three to stand alone as the most prolific Test try-scorer in All Blacks history.
