Black Ferns v Black Ferns XV teams named for internal hit-out
Black Ferns v Black Ferns XV
Kicking off at 3.30pm Friday 14 August, the match allows for additional substitutions with each team carrying extended squads.
The fixture serves as an opportunity for the Black Ferns XV to face quality competition as they start to build towards the inaugural British & Irish Lions Tour 2027. For the Black Ferns, it’s a chance for the group to prepare ahead of a packed international schedule with eight Tests remaining this year.
On Friday, the Black Ferns will also be wearing their white strip in acknowledgement of the next generation of players coming through the women’s rugby pathway.
Black Ferns Head Coach Whitney Hansen said:
“We not only acknowledge the significance of this opportunity to continue growing our game through meaningful competition, but also to give the Black Ferns XV the chance to wear the black jersey. For many, it will be their first time.
“Respecting the pathway means recognising that today's XVs athletes are tomorrow's Black Ferns. Supporting their journey starts with moments like these where we honour their place in the game and celebrate the future of our sport.”
