Wing Mack Hansen has been forced out of the touring squad while uncapped forwards Edwin Edogbo and Brian Gleeson have also been withdrawn.

Key backs Bundee Aki, who has a hip injury, and Robbie Henshaw, a groin injury, have been retained but are not assured starters.

Aki was injured in his first game of the season on Saturday against the Bulls while Henshaw was playing his second game for Leinster.

Ireland assistant coach John Fogarty said, "I think everyone is excited to be back in here, the challenge that's there in front of us is huge and let's get on with it. Let's get over there and get on with. That's the mindset at the moment."

Hansen is disappointed to be missing the game, and possibly some of their remaining November Tests against Japan, Australia and South Africa.

"It's a huge November and a huge opportunity to play against the best in the world so any player that's not going to make it is going to be disappointed and so are we, we think he's a world-class player.

"He's going to be gutted because of the fixtures, because of the excitement to play in a green jersey, to show the people of Ireland what it is they're about."

However, those young players called in, Tom Farrell and Jimmy O'Brien are exciting and he had been involved as a coach for Farrell earlier in his career.

With some of the injuries coming from the Irish local derby between Munster and Leinster, won by Munster 31-14, Fogarty said that was a by-product of their rivalry.

"It's kind of the nature of things isn't it? I know New Zealand have lost a couple of players in the second row, and it is the nature of the game.

"Having guys to step in is always unbelievably important. We get to widen the squad a fraction and the opportunity is there for those players now to really show what they're worth in camp, so it will be exciting to see them."
