George Bower

BIOGRAPHY

It has been a meteoric rise for George Bower from the Wellington club rugby scene into the All Blacks.

Born in Lower Hutt, George Bower is a versatile prop capable of covering both sides of the scrum. A product of the Avalon Rugby Club, he represented Wellington Under-20 in 2011 before moving south to Dunedin to train as a teacher.

Bower’s persistence paid off when he broke into the Otago setup, earning his first provincial cap in 2014 and establishing himself as a regular by 2018. His strong scrummaging, work ethic, and mobility around the field caught the attention of the Crusaders, who signed him for the 2019 season. Since then, Bower has become a key member of the squad, contributing to multiple Super Rugby title wins.

His consistent performances earned him All Blacks selection and he made his international debut on 3 July 2021 against Tonga.
