Black Fern #239
Logo-I-Pulotu Lemapu-Atai’i Sylvia Brunt’s rise in international rugby has continued at pace, establishing herself as an exciting presence in the backline. At just 18 she made her Black Ferns debut off the bench against Canada in the 2022 Pacific Four Series in Waitākere. The Auckland product proved she belonged at the highest level and was part of the Black Ferns squad that went on to win the Women’s Rugby World Cup on home soil later that year.
She captained Mt Albert Grammar 1st XV team who won the College Sport Auckland Championship, was a member of the Ponsonby Senior Women's team that won the 2020 Coleman Shield and in the same year she debuted for the Auckland Storm. An impressive midfielder, Brunt also represented the Blues in Super Rugby Aupiki last year. She was also awarded Pasifika Women’s Breakthrough Player of the Year at the Pasifika Hall of Fame awards.
Fellow Black Ferns midfielder Amy du Plessis and Brunt have formed an entertaining midfield combination. The duo were standouts across the Black Ferns 2023 Test season, and a combination set to continue flourishing in 2026.
