Hailing from Whangārei, Tara Turner comes from a large family with a strong background in touch rugby which significantly influenced her rugby journey. Her rugby journey began with Hora Hora and represented Northland in the Farah Palmer Cup making an immediate impact with her performances.

In 2023, she debuted for the Blues in Sky Super Rugby Aupiki, showcasing her versatility as a first five-eighth and fullback. The same year, she was part of Northland’s championship-winning team in the Farah Palmer Cup. Sidelined in 2024 due to injury, Turner made a return to the Blues in 2025.

Off field, Turner was awarded the Tania Dalton Scholarship in 2020, benefitting from mentorship and personal development opportunities.
