BIOGRAPHY
All Black #1143
Codie Taylor is a dynamic hooker known for his speed, physicality, and try-scoring ability. A powerful scrummager and highly effective around the ruck and in open play, he has become a cornerstone of the All Blacks’ front row.
Originally from Levin, north of Wellington, Taylor grew up in Australia where he played rugby league before switching to union. He was part of the New Zealand Under-20 squad that won the 2011 IRB Junior World Championship, made his provincial debut in 2012, and debuted in Super Rugby for the Crusaders in 2013.
Taylor earned his first All Blacks selection in 2015 and was part of the Rugby World Cup-winning squad, appearing against Namibia. In 2017, he played 13 of the All Blacks’ 14 Tests, cementing his status as a key international player. Known for his leadership, Taylor captained the Crusaders to a Super Rugby title in 2020.
Taylor has likely the longest historical familial gap between two All Blacks: his great-great-grandfather, Walter Pringle, was All Black #30 in 1893.
