BIOGRAPHY
All Black #1224
Towering lock Fabian Holland made history in 2024 as the first Dutch-born All Black, capping a remarkable journey from the Netherlands to New Zealand rugby’s highest level. Holland relocated from Amsterdam to Christchurch at age 16 to attend Christchurch Boys’ High School, where his size, work ethic, and athleticism quickly stood out. He progressed rapidly from his school’s First XV to the New Zealand Under-20s, before making his provincial debut for Otago in 2021.
A year later, he joined the Highlanders, establishing himself as one of Super Rugby’s most promising young locks. His commanding lineout presence, tireless work rate, and strong ball-carrying ability have made him a key figure in the Highlanders’ forward pack.
In 2023, Holland impressed for the All Blacks XV, producing a standout man-of-the-match performance against Munster in Ireland. His consistency and physicality earned him a maiden All Blacks call-up in 2024.
Still in the early stages of his international career, Holland’s blend of power, precision, and relentless drive marks him as one of New Zealand rugby’s brightest long-term prospects in the second row.
