BIOGRAPHY

CODIE TAYLOR IS AN IMPRESSIVE HOOKER with surprising speed and a knack for scoring tries.

A powerful scrummager adept in rucks and in the loose, he continued the form that saw him play 13 of the All Blacks’ 14 Tests in 2017 and is now an established front row forward in the All Blacks pack.

Originally from the small town of Levin, north of Wellington, Taylor grew up in Australia, where he started playing league as a youngster.

He was part of the New Zealand Under 20 team which won the 2011 IRB Junior World Championship, made his provincial debut in 2012 and Super Rugby debut in 2013.

He continued to work hard on his game eventually earning All Blacks selection in 2015 and was part of the Rugby World Cup-winning squad, playing in the match against Namibia.

In recent seasons Taylor has emerged as a fine leader and captained the Crusaders through to the Super Rugby title in 2020. 

Taylor has likely the longest historical familial gaps between two All Blacks: his great-great-grandfather was 1893 All Black Walter Pringle.
