BIOGRAPHY

REED PRINSEP PULLED on a black jersey for the first time in 2016 when he made his Māori All Blacks debut against Munster.

A sparkling 2015 provincial season with Premiership winners Canterbury saw Prinsep attract a lot of attention and he was called into the Crusaders in 2016, making his debut against the Chiefs. He had another big season with the red and blacks in 2016 and was one of the team’s most successful tacklers, with a 94.4 per cent success rate. That attracted the attention of the Hurricanes, with whom he signed a two-year deal starting in 2017.

Prinsep has made a big contribution since joining the Hurricanes, establishing himself as a starter an unsung hero within the squad. He's got a huge work rate, and played an average of 78.1 minutes in the 2020 Super Rugby season.

Prinsep captained Canterbury in the 2020 Mitre 10 Cup.

He attended Christchurch Boys' High School, one of New Zealand’s most prolific producers of top rugby talent.
