In a fitting finale, the Crusaders return to their Christchurch fortress, where they’ve never lost a playoff match. Since Super Rugby began in 1996, they’ve gone unbeaten in 31 home finals and playoff games across three decades.
Fans in 58 countries can watch the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific Grand Final live and free on NZR+.
Standing in their way are the Chiefs, finalists for the third straight year, determined after falling to the Crusaders in 2023 and the Blues in 2024. They’ll bring hard-earned lessons from those two defeats into this one.
Both teams are stacked with All Blacks talent and match-winners across the park. Crusaders fullback Will Jordan has returned from injury in devastating form, scoring two tries in last week’s gritty 21–14 semifinal win over the Blues. He’ll be joined by the likes of All Blacks captain Scott Barrett, the Crusaders’ all-time leading try-scorer Sevu Reece, and the ever-reliable skipper David Havili, who continues to steer the side with calm authority.
On the other side, dynamic playmaker Damian McKenzie enters the final as Super Rugby Pacific’s leading point scorer with 207 points — well clear of the next-best, Beauden Barrett, on 112. But McKenzie is far from the Chiefs’ only threat. Rising star Wallace Sititi, the 2024 World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year, has surged into form late in the season, while the back three of Shaun Stevenson, Leroy Carter, and Emoni Narawa has proven to be one of the most dangerous combinations in the competition.
A sell-out crowd is expected in Christchurch for what’s shaping up to be an all-time classic.
