Tupaea said, "They've got a few guys in their backline that play with confidence and like to move the ball around. But we're expecting a lot of the same. They use their kicking game well, with big forwards, and given the backline they've named, they might look to play a little more.

"Rassie's [coach Erasmus] showing he's prepared to make changes and back his squad so it's a good challenge for our group."

Tupaea said while they were pleased with their performance in Auckland at the weekend, they need to take it to another level in Wellington.

"We missed a few opportunities out there on the weekend and we know we can be a lot better in areas and that's the exciting part."

They have discussed the level of commitment needed to win again in Wellington.

"Every week it's a massive game for the All Blacks. We're always expected to perform well, especially at home. So, it's not hard to get up for these games.

Coming on as a substitute and scoring the All Blacks' last try in Auckland, Tupaea said he had been reviewing how South Africa were playing.

"They like to cram and bring a lot of line speed, so trying to get that space a little wider, away from the ruck, was a bit of a mindset. It was pretty frantic over the last 20 minutes."

There was a lot of emotion associated with the Eden Park contest, defending the 31-year-old unbeaten record, but also Ardie Savea's 100th Test.

But the benefit in the lead-up to Wellington has been having former All Blacks captain Richie McCaw in camp.

"It's pretty crazy seeing him in the environment. It's the first time I have met him. I was a fan of him growing up, he gives us confidence, gives us some inspiration and views of when he was playing. It's awesome to have him in the group."

Tupaea said he was excited to sign for another two years with the Chiefs.

"Trying to win a championship for the region, and the club, is a massive part of it and we've been close for a few years now, so getting one there is a massive, massive part of it."

There is also a drive to make the 2027 Rugby World Cup squad, having been denied by injury when in the mix for the 2023 Cup."

Assistant coach Tamati Ellison said that with the changes to the South African side, they were preparing for everything and concentrating on themselves.

"You have to make sure you're clear on specifics, left-footers and right-footers, and general tendencies. We'll make those adjustments.

"We do our due diligence around who's playing and making sure of the tendencies and what's different. It's important that in a three-day training you focus on yourselves and what you're going to do and where your growth is."
