Braxton Sorenson-McGee scored two tries on debut for the Black Ferns against the Wallaroos. She then went on to score 11 tries at the Rugby World Cup 2025 to finish as the tournament's top try scorer and top points scorer with 69, earning the World Rugby Women's 15s Breakthrough Player of the Year award. She subsequently made her Black Ferns Sevens debut during the 2025–26 SVNS season and has re-signed with New Zealand Rugby through to the end of 2027 with her primary focus on the Black Ferns Sevens while also pursuing ambitions in fifteens.

A powerful and explosive outside back, Sorensen-McGee brings speed, footwork and strong finishing ability to the Black Ferns Sevens programme. Her ability to beat defenders, create line breaks and contribute defensively has highlighted her enormous potential.
