France Confirm Touring Party for Lipovitan-D Series in NZ

France v3

On that occasion, New Zealand had punished players who took part in an unsanctioned rebel tour of South Africa with a two-Test suspension, which included a one-off Test against the co-Five Nations champions.

The only capped Test players the All Blacks fielded were the captain and now chairman of New Zealand Rugby, halfback David Kirk (four Tests), centre Arthur Stone (4), wing John Kirwan (7) and prop Brian McGrattan (4).

Despite having so little experience, the side Brian Lochore coached, which became known as the 'Baby Blacks, ' beat France 18-9 in Christchurch.

The sides have met 64 times in Tests, with the All Blacks winning 48 and France 15, with one draw.

On Tuesday, French coach Fabien Galthie named his squad of 37 for the tour, 17 who have yet to play a Test and 28 who have less than 10 Tests.

Gael Fickou is the most experienced player with 94 Tests and will captain the side, which will be extended by five more players after the Top 14 final between Toulouse and Bordeaux-Begles at the weekend.

Fickou led the side in its friendly against England at the weekend.

Experienced players Romain Ntamack, Thomas Ramos, Thibaud Flament, Damian Penaud and Louis Bielle-Biarrey may be the extra players included.

France's selection policy is governed by a rule that allows players only 2000 minutes of rugby during their season.

The second Test will be played in Wellington on July 12 and the third in Hamilton on July 19.

The French squad is:
